Week 35 Summary of route trends about Tianjin Safround Logistics

2025.08.29

Japan Route: Freight rates on all routes to Japan will continue to rise next week and are expected to continue rising until ocean freight rates are positive.

Shipowners recommend COSCO, Datong, Antong, Haifeng, Sinotrans, and Jinjiang.

South Korea Route: Incheon's freight rates will remain largely unchanged at the end of the month. Busan's new port is still relatively cheap, so ONE Busan is highly recommended.

Shipowners recommend Shangang, Datong, Douyu, ONE, and MCC.

Africa Route Summary and Analysis

For direct voyages to Dar es Rum in East Africa, freight rates will be reduced on August 25th. ASCL is still highly recommended for East Africa. Prices are reasonable and settlement is available. Actual orders will be confirmed separately.

Shipowners recommend ASCL/ESL/IAL/KMTC/MSC.

India's lack of scheduled sailings at the end of the month is driving up prices, and this trend is expected to continue at the beginning of the month.

Middle East prices are expected to rise at the end of the month, and this trend is expected to continue until mid-September.

Red Sea prices are expected to rise at the end of the month, and shipping space is tight.

European Market Analysis

Europe: Overall cargo volumes are low; freight rates have generally decreased, but shipping space is available. Week 35 slots can continue to be arranged. ONE has available slots for slots 27 and 29. In addition, various shipping lines have offered special rates for specific commodities, such as tires, plywood, and carbon black. Freight rates must be confirmed individually.

MSK's Northern Europe freight rates were updated in early September, with rates generally dropping by 50/100. Online bookings for large shipments are not recommended, as space is limited. Individual shipments should negotiate for space in advance. For non-container shipments requiring a firm order, online bookings can be made. Please note that MSK's overall deadweight rate is USD 50/100.

MSC's European routes have seen price reductions, making them higher than those of MSK, EMC, and ONE. The advantage is that they can handle large shipments with no weight restrictions.

EMC's prices have also been reduced, and some shipments can still be accepted for Week 35. For large shipments with firm orders, please inquire individually for special rates.

Mediterranean Market Analysis

Mediterranean EMC: Shipping capacity will be reduced by one-third in early September, making it difficult to accept large shipments and prone to being dumped.

For the Western Sea: MSC and ZIM are preferred. Vessels scheduled normally for September 4th are available. Large shipments can be subject to separate freight rates.

For the North Africa Sea, shipping capacity is reduced, and freight rates are expected to rise. COSCO T1 is the preferred option, with MSC EMC also providing support.

For the Eastern Sea, MSC offers special rates at the end of the month, with prices increasing by approximately 200/400 in early September.

Due to sanctions, SLS has temporarily suspended Mediterranean service.

For the Eastern Sea, a direct WHL vessel will be added on September 12th, crossing the Red Sea at a fast speed, serving Alexandria New Port, Izmit, and Istanbul (Kumport).

Korea Xingya Dexiang's direct sailing to Bangkok is scheduled for September 10th, with the same freight rates. Haifeng Jinjiang's direct sailing to Bangkok is scheduled for September 3rd. On the Vietnam route, low-rate shipowners are facing significant inventory shortages. COSCO & OOCL are fully booked on August 31st, with space booked until early September.
